The damping factor of the XP 5000 is >250 in 8 ohm at 1kHz, however this doesn’t mean that the unit won’t work great in the 40 to 180 Hz frequency range - even with speakers with impedances as low as 2 ohms (which is the minimum loading for these amplifiers).

It is not recommended, and doing so could be potentially dangerous to the amp. Users running this setting do so at their own risks, and should understand that such usage would void their product warranty.

The MAX series of power amplifiers do indeed have limiters. It can be activated by the limiter switch on the rear panel. However, when the peak limiter is on, it does not guarantee that there will be zero distortion on the output, but it does ensure that the output power is limited. It protects your speakers from being overdriven if there are any abnormal power fluctuations in the power amplifier. (more...)
